Girl’s Night In (2024)

Girl’s Night In is about revenge and indulgence. Much of my art explores vulnerability, oppression, and self-defense through the personification of sheep and wolves. I wanted to continue that exploration in this series, but delve more deeply into the aftermath of retribution. What happens after you get what you want? Maybe you’re satisfied, or maybe you sicken yourself. Was it worth it? Would you do it again? What will everyone think, and do you care?

This series is one of my many “self-portraits”. I believe in righteous vengeance and I expect the world to comply. But so often evil is rewarded and good is forsaken. I want so badly for wrongs to be righted that I can feel myself sinking to wretched levels of malice. I want the wicked to be punished. I want it so deeply that it twists my insides; it makes me sick. I don’t want to feel so full of hate, but I don’t have the luxury of taking the high road.
